Just days before a presidential visit to the U.K. by Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, British Prime Minister David Cameron defended his comments that Pakistan is not doing enough to counteract terrorism, during a closed press conference with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, July 29.
“I believe in speaking clearly and plainly about these matters,” Cameron said at the conference.
“It is not acceptable, as I have said, for there to be within Pakistan, the existence of terror groups that cause terrorism both within Pakistan and outside of Pakistan,” he said.
Cameron said the U.K. will continue to work with Pakistan to crackdown on terrorist groups both internally and outside its borders.
The press conference comes after two days of talks between Cameron and India to establish better economic and cultural ties. The PM said he wants the U.K. to be India’s “partner of choice,” according to BBC.
