Two-Vehicle Crash on I-285 Kills Wrong-Way Driver Instantly

A wrong-way driver was killed during a two-vehicle crash on Interstate-285 in DeKalb County, Georgia, according to reports.

Juan Cisneros Alvarez, 23, was identified as the driver who died, according to the DeKalb County Medical Examiner’s office, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Officers went to the crash at Chamblee Tucker Road about 5 a.m., when they found the crash.

“The driver was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes,” a spokesperson for the department said.

They found Alvarez dead at the scene of the crash. CBS46 reported that he died instantly.

The other driver in the crash suffered minor injuries.

It isn’t clear if alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash.

I-285 was closed for about three hours before lanes reopened at 8 a.m., CBS46 reported.
