Twenty People Near Death at Daqing Prison
In Daqing Prison in Liaoning Province, Northeastern China, more than 20 Falun Gong practitioners have been on a hunger strike for nearly one month to protest the persecution of Falun Gong in China. Many of them are too weak to move, some even unconscious. The situation is very severe and immediate rescue is needed.
According to Clearwisdom.net, on January 26, 2006, three days before the Chinese New Year, the head of Daqing Prison personally beat Falun Gong practitioners Jiang Derong, Jia Shenghui, Sun Jianbin, Wang Yudong, and Jin Sheng in front of many others. These practitioners were then sent to solitary confinement and were tortured. The Falun Gong practitioners detained in Daqing Prison began a protest hunger strike upon hearing the news.
Sources say that Falun Gong practitioners Pu Fanwei and Zhang Zhi are unconscious. Guan Zhaoqi, Wang Yudong, Li Ronghong, Zhao Yu'An, and Zhang Xingye cannot rise from their beds. Also on hunger strike are Jin Sheng, Zhang Zidong, Jiang Derong, Zhong Zhaoqin, Zou Guoyan, Wang Junfeng, Deng Qingshan, Yao Bin, Li Chao, Li Zhanbin, and Zai Zhibin.
The prison has sealed off information to the outside and is force-feeding the Falun Gong practitioners. Sources say that all of the practitioners are in serious health conditions.
Clearwisdom.net learned from mainland China that in 2005, three Falun Gong practitioners died within three months of each other from torture in Daqing Prison. On May 14, 2005, Falun Gong practitioner Wang Hongde was tortured to death after severe physical and mental abuse. On June 7, 2005, Falun Gong practitioner Xu Jishan was choked to death with water by five inmates under the direction of the prison management. On July 23, Falun Gong practitioner Yuan Qingjiang died from long-term torture.
Daqing Prison guard Guo Chuntang openly said, “What's the big deal if a few people died from torture in Daqing prison?” Guard Li Fengjiang said, “When it comes to Falun Gong, if they refuse to be brainwashed, we'll cremate them.”
Due to the difficulty in obtaining information from the Daqing Prison, the current state of the practitioners who have been force-fed and tortured are uncertain.
