A tropical weather system landed in Puerto Rico and parts of the Virgin Islands on Monday. A wave from the system produced “heavy, gusty squalls,” according to Accuweather. As much as 12 inches of rain are predicted in some locations. The rain will likely leave the islands by late Tuesday.

The storm is expected to move west toward Hispaniola island and will likely affect the region, including Haiti and the Dominican Republic, by Monday night.

A second tropical wave is expected to move into the Central Caribbean on Tuesday or Wednesday and will continue to progress into the West Caribbean throughout the week.

A third tropical wave will enter tropical North Atlantic waters by Friday, reported the National Weather Service.
