Toy Story 3 has now surpassed Shrek 2 in becoming the top-grossing animated movie of all time.

The Walt Disney-Pixar movie has taken more than $920 million at the box office, while DreamWorks Pictures’ Shrek 2 netted $919 million.

In the third installment of the 10-year production, the toys’ owner Andy goes to college, leaving behind cowboy Woody, space ranger Buzz Lightyear, and many of his old toys.

The movie has also been named the fourth best-selling Disney picture of all time, after Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest (2006), Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland (2010), and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End (2007).

The latest Toy Story movie grossed the second-most amount in 2010 behind Alice in Wonderland, which made more than $1 billion at the box office.

The first two Toy Story movies were also extremely popular with the first making $362 million, and the second making $485 million.

Toy Story 3 will be released on DVD and Blu-ray on Nov. 2, 2010.
