Due to a possible link to an outbreak of typhoid fever, Fruiti Pops Inc. of Santa Fe Springs, CA, recently recalled its mamey frozen fruit bars.

On Aug. 12, Goya Foods Inc. had a typhoid fever outbreak in California and Nevada, and recalled all the contaminated mamey pulp. The company says the fruit bars were also made from that same pulp, reported the Associated Press.{etRelate 40934}

According to Goya Foods, the fruit bars in question have been distributed in California, Arizona, and Texas since May 2009. Their UPC number in retail stores, ice cream trucks, and vending machines is 763734000097.

So far, there have been no reported illnesses from consumption of the mamey fruit bars.
