Tommy Chong: Dancing with the Stars Won’t Allow Pot Plants or Bongs on Clothing

Tommy Chong is set to take part in Dancing with the Stars on Monday night on ABC.

Chong says that he wants to be “the poster boy for the marijuana community,” he told Time magazine. “They can point and me and say, ‘Look at him! He’s 76 years old, he can dance, he’s healthy, he has a beautiful wife and he smokes marijuana for medical purposes.”

He added: “Medical marijuana is my passion in life. I went for jail for my beliefs. Now that we’re getting legal, I want to focus on the benefits of medical marijuana — it helps little children with epilepsy and MS, and it helped me with my cancer.”

But he said the show cant display “pot leaves or bongs. But they have Tommy Chong, who really is a pot leaf.”

Chong told ABC that he has a plan to win the season. Chong says that because he’s half-Chinese, he'd like to draw all the Chinese viewers.

Then he jokes: “All the Korean viewers, all the Filipino viewers. And then because of my association with Cheech, he’s Mexican, so I want to get all the Mexican viewers. And I’m half Scottish and Irish, so all the Irish and all the Scottish. And I was born in Canada, so all the Canadians...”
