Three journalists were kidnapped in southeastern Nigeria on Wednesday. The journalists worked at the South African TV channel Supersport and were in the West African nation to cover a soccer match.

They were reportedly attacked near the airport in Owerri, according to Bloomberg. Two of the men were Nigerian citizens, the third from South Africa. Officials say it is not clear who kidnapped the journalists.

One of the men, Alexander Effiong escaped on Thursday and there is little information about the other two men. The men were abducted after gunmen stopped their bus and ordered the three men to leave with them. Bowie Attamah, a sports commentator, and Nick Greyling, a sound engineer are still being held captive.
