The Big Bang Theory earned three awards at the third annual Critics’ Choice Television Awards on June 10. The CBS sitcom was chosen by the Broadcast TV Journalists Association as the best comedy series. Simon Helberg, who plays Howard Wolowitz, won as best supporting actor in a comedy series. Kaley Cuoco, who plays Penny, tied with Eden Sher of ABC’s The Middle for best supporting actress in a comedy series.
Cuoco’s sister, Briana Cuoco, congratulated her via Twitter: “My sis is a rockstar … This night is THE BEST.” Cuoco thanked her sister for sharing the night with her, and congratulated Monica Potter of NBC’s Parenthood for her win as best supporting actress in a drama series.
“Couldn’t be happier for my sweet hilarious friend @monicapotter on her win tonight!” Cuoco tweeted.
The Big Bang Theory was up against nominees Louie, The Middle, New Girl, Parks and Recreation, and Veep for best comedy series. Veep’s Julia Dreyfus won best actress in a comedy series, and Louis C.K. of Louis won best actor in a comedy series.
The title of best reality series was shared by Push Girls and Duck Dynasty. Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad also tied, sharing the title of best drama. The Daily Show with Jon Stewart won best talk show.
NBC’s The Voice won best reality competition series, up against nominees Chopped, Face Off, Shark Tank, So You Think You Can Dance, and Survivor.
Dancing With the Stars host Tom Bergeron won best reality host.
