One of the most popular television comedies, “The Big Bang Theory,” will come to an end after 12 seasons in 2019, it was announced on its official twitter account on Aug. 22.
“We, along with the cast, writers and crew, are extremely appreciative of the show’s success and aim to deliver a final season, and series finale, that will bring #TheBigBangTheory to an epic creative close,” stated the tweet.
The joint announcement was made by Warner Bros. Television, CBS, and Chunck Lorre Productions, who also stated, “We are forever grateful to our fans for their support of The #BigBangTheory during the past twelve seasons.”
The television series debuted in 2007 and centers around two physicists, a mechanical engineer, and an astrophysicist. The four men all work for Cal Tech and consider themselves nerds with little or no luck with woman. But when a pretty actress moves into the apartment of the two physicists, life becomes more interesting.
The show filmed a record-breaking 279 episodes in total. During the last season, there were approximately 18.6 million viewers per episode.
Season 12 will premiere on CBS on Monday, September 24 at 8 P.M. eastern time, but its regular slot is on Thursday. It will conclude in May of 2019.
