At only 12 years old, a boy living in foster care has gone through lots of trials and tribulations. However, this hasn’t altered his optimism nor faith. The child’s zest for life is truly remarkable, and all he’s hoping for is to find the perfect family that could adopt him.

Jonah made his TV debut in December 2019 at “Wednesday’s Child,” a segment by local TV station WFAA in Dallas, Texas, that aims to raise awareness on the lives of foster children looking to be adopted. The confident boy was dressed to the nines wearing a three-piece suit. Alluding to his outfit, he told WFAA, “Well, I felt I needed to be proper in the most way that I could.”

At first glance, seeing this 12-year-old happily smiling in front of the cameras, one wouldn’t be able to guess that life hadn’t always been kind to him. Jonah suffered abuse and has been in the foster care system for the last four years. “He’s [God] brought me through many, many things. As far as abuse before I came into CPS. He’s brought me through a lot. Just a lot overall,” he recalled. The 12-year-old told the news network that his faith helped him maintain a smile in the face of adversity.

Despite all the trauma he’s been through, Jonah hasn’t let it affect him academically. The intelligent boy is doing very well in school. “I am an honor roll student. When I’m in school, I focus. I got an award last year for being a multi-tasker,” he explained.

Jonah has a beaming personality and listens to the song “Happier” by Marshmello during his downtime.

He strongly believes Lord is there, watching over him. Jonah has approached life in a very positive way. “Waking me up this morning, you know what I mean? Starting me on my way. I’m in my right mind. I know who I am and I’m proud of being the person who I am,” he poignantly added.

Describing himself, Jonah said he is “a person who likes to uplift people.” He also has his own philosophy of treating people. Jonah shared, “The golden rule is to treat somebody the way you want to be treated, and that’s what I do or at least what I try to do the most.”

According to adoption.com, Jonah is looking forward to a bright future and would like to pursue a career in accounting in the future.

However, what this child really wants is to find an adopted family that would love and protect him. “Reason, why I want to be adopted, is because I know there’s a family out there that fits me in the best possible way that they can,” he explained.

According to WFAA, “Wednesday’s Child” segment has partnered with Child Protective Services to tell the stories of children, just like Jonah, who live in foster care, “in hopes that one day a child’s wish of a ‘forever family’ will come true.” The children featured on the local news network are from Texas Department of Family and Protective Services due to some form of abuse or neglect.
