Teacher in Custody After ‘Shots Fired’ Report at Dalton High School in Georgia

Police said on Wednesday, Feb. 28, that a teacher is in custody after reports of shots being fired at Dalton High School in Dalton, Georgia.

No children were harmed, WSB-TV reported.

Police in Dalton, located in Whitfield County, said that a teacher was barricaded in a classroom, according to local reports.

The area inside the school was evacuated, and no students were in danger, according to the report. It was also placed on lockdown.

Police haven’t yet identified the teacher.

The incident took place after 12 p.m. local time, WTVC reported.

Dalton Police spokesman Bruce Frazier said that a student injured their ankle while running in the school during the evacuation.

Police are calling on parents to not go to the school, but they should head to the Northwest Georgia Trade Center to pick up their children.

Dalton Police and the Georgia State Patrol have responded to the incident.
