Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the former president of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), returned home to France for the first time on Sunday after the criminal case against him in New York fell apart.

The former IMF chief arrived in Paris’s Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport in the morning along with his wife, Anne Sinclair, reported Reuters.

He has been in New York since he was arrested in May for allegedly sexually assaulting a hotel maid.

A New York judge dropped all criminal charges against Strauss-Kahn last month after prosecutors’ evidence raised doubts about the maid’s credibility.

Strauss-Kahn, who was once seen as a Socialist contender for the French presidency, denied all the charges against him.

In France, Strauss-Kahn is still facing accusations by French novelist Tristane Banon, who filed a complaint for attempted rape against Strauss-Kahn earlier this year.
