Star Wars Episode 7 Rumors: Luke Skywalker Spots Facial Hair in Episode VII, Josh Trank to Direct Spinoff? (+Photo)

Luke Skywalker will spot a beard in Star Wars: Episode VII, while Josh Trank will direct a Star Wars spinoff.

Mark Hamill, who plays the legendary Jedi Luke Skywalker, will very likely spot some facial hair in Episode VII.

The 62-year-old actor was spotted with a beard at Star Wars Weekends 2014, which was held at Walt Disney World Resort.

On preparing for the film, Hamill told the Orlando Sentinel that: “I’ve altered my diet. I’ve started working out. There’s that. But on the film itself: I toured the departments, I’ve looked at wardrobe, and I saw the creature shop. I went around and met all the cast people, saw the technicians working on some new things.”

Hamill kept mum about the plot, however.

“This is a whole different world … The first one, no one cared. The second one there was a lot of interest, but it was before the internet. … I tell people we’re not trying to annoy you or tease you or play some massive game. Basically what the goal is to keep the surprises for the movie instead of spoiling them on the internet,” Hamill said.

In other news, Josh Trank, who directed Chronicle and will direct the upcoming Fantastic Four reboot, is set to direct a Star Wars spinoff movie.

Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy said in a statement: “We’re thrilled to welcome Josh into the family. He is such an incredible talent and has a great imagination and sense of innovation. That makes him perfectly suited to Star Wars, and for this new slate of movies that reach beyond the core characters and storylines of Episodes I through IX.”

Trank said, “The magic of the Star Wars Universe defined my entire childhood.”
“The opportunity to expand on that experience for future generations is the most incredible dream of all time,” he added.

Star Wars: Episode VII will hit theaters December 18, 2015.
Episode VIII and Episode IX are set to come out in 2017 and 2019 respectively.
The spinoffs will be released in 2016 and 2018.
