Former Miami Heat teammates Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro got into a physical altercation in Las Vegas on July 10, where Adebayo struck Herro in the face, the Miami Heat confirmed to The Athletic.
When they were walking off a hotel practice court, Adebayo reportedly confronted Herro about comments he made criticizing Adebayo on social media after Herro was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks last month.
Shortly after the incident, Herro participated in a brief interview ahead of a Heat-Bucks summer league game before news of the altercation had become public.
“It’s all love. It’s all love in Miami,” Herro said. “I’ve seen a couple of the guys, and the coaching staff. Chris Quinn, [Erik Spoelstra], front office guys. We are all good in Miami and just the opportunity for both sides to reset, get a fresh start, and we’re both super happy for this.”
The two stars spent the past 7 years together on the Heat, since Herro got drafted in 2019. The pair played a crucial role in multiple deep playoff runs for Miami, including finals appearances in 2020 and 2023.
Herro was dealt to Milwaukee on June 23 as part of the package for superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Last week, a series of messages between Herro and an anonymous fan got leaked on social media, showing Herro questioning whether Adebayo was worth his contract and calling himself the best player on the team.
“You should get paid $60 million to be a top tier defender on some nights? I’m just wondering,” Herro said, apparently referring to Adebayo, who signed a three-year, $166 million extension with Miami in June 2024.
“Why are Heat fans so worried about me and what I do?” Herro said. “But I’m not the best player on the team right?”

Herro was injured for a good portion of last season, only playing 33 out of 82 games, during which he averaged approximately 20 points, five rebounds, and four assists. The season prior, he made his first all-star team as he averaged a career-high 24 points per game.
His trade to Milwaukee is a sort of homecoming for the 26-year-old, who was born in the city and grew up in the area.
Adebayo, a three-time all-star, will enter his tenth year with Miami this upcoming season. In a March 10 game against the Washington Wizards last season, Adebayo scored 83 points, the second most in NBA history.
Last season, he averaged approximately 20 points and 10 rebounds per game.
