South Carolina: One Officer Dead, Four in Serious Condition

Five law enforcement officers were shot on Oct. 3. and the suspect is now in custody in Florence County, South Carolina.

Deputy Chief Glenn Kirby told news outlets on the scene that three Florence County sheriff’s deputies and two city officers were shot.

Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken confirmed one city officer to be dead from the incident, The Associated Press reported.
A female Florence County deputy was shot during the incident some time after 5 p.m, WMBF reported. The condition of the other law enforcement officers are unknown.

Authorities are asking people to stay away from Vintage Place, west of Florence, due to an active investigation.

President Donald Trump tweeted his condolences and gratitude for the law enforcement’s work.

Governor Henry McMaster tweeted his praise for the officers and deputies involved.
