Selena Gomez recently fled the United States to “escape from American media,” she said.
The 21-year-old singer and actress discussed why she was in Nepal with journalist Bisnu Sharma.

Perhaps standing out the most was Gomez saying that she fled to Nepal for the escape and to get “mental piece.”
Gomez is often linked to her on-off boyfriend Justin Bieber while in the U.S.
Gomez also had police protection on her visit, as she was surrounded by fans most places she went.
While in Nepal, Gomez gave musical instruments to schoolchildren in Dang , where she also visited a child care center.
She said while she was there that Nepal is her second home and that she loves Nepali music. She added that she will return to Nepal again and that she admired Nepali culture.
While she was there, Gomez was welcomed by the country’s foreign minister, who praised her contribution toward the “social cause” of the country, according to Sharma.
