Sarah Geronimo, the famed singer and actress, has been named the “most beautiful star” in the Philippines.

The magazine YES! bestowed the ranking in its special issue, announcing the choice in a press conference on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old was chosen because of her quiet sophistication and confidence.

“Sarah is also a woman who has come into her own. That is the reason why YES! magazine chose her as this year’s most beautiful star,” the magazine said.

Geronimo, asked to define beauty, said

“It’s not the outward assets, the make-up or jewelry, but the love of family and friends that makes one a complete person.”

When first hearing about being chosen, she exclaimed “I cannot believe it!”

Geronimo, born and raised in Santa Cruz, started music lessons at a young age under the tutelage of her father. She acted in a series of television programs from the time that she was four years old, and was later vaulted into major stardom after appearing on Star For a Night in 2003, emerging as the grand winner for her rendition of the song “To Love You More,” according to IMDB.

She has since released multiple albums and also appeared in a number of television shows and movies.

In fact, under her tutelage Lyca Gairanod just won the first season of The Voice Kids Philippines.
