Samantha Nicole Barrett, 22, stole a car belonging to an acquaintance of hers with the owner’s baby in the back seat at about midnight on Tuesday. She reached speeds of up to 90 mph as she was chased by police up Interstate 75 southeast of Atlanta.
She crashed the car and tried to run, but was soon caught. The baby, eight-month-old William Kaidyn Stover, was not harmed and was returned to his mother. Barrett is from Marietta, Ga. The Marietta Patch reports that Barrett’s motives are still unclear to authorities.
