Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has contracted the CCP virus, President Donald Trump said.

Giuliani, his personal attorney, “has tested positive for the China Virus,” Trump wrote on Twitter, referring to the novel coronavirus that causes COVID-19. “Get better soon Rudy, we will carry on!!!”

Trump added that Giuliani, who has spearheaded his campaign’s legal efforts in key states, “has been working tirelessly exposing the most corrupt election (by far!) in the history of the USA.”

The president didn’t provide any more details about the 76-year-old’s CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus diagnosis.

The campaign’s legal team said in a statement that Giuliani tested negative twice immediately preceding his trip to Arizona, Michigan, and Georgia, and did not experience any symptoms or test positive for COVID-19 until more than 48 hours after his return.

No legislators in any state or members of the press are on the contact tracing list, the campaign said, citing Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines. Other campaign members who are defined as having had close contact “will be following their physicians’ directives and CDC guidelines on self-isolation and testing,” the statement said.

Earlier on Dec. 6, Giuliani was interviewed by Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo and didn’t appear to show any symptoms of the virus.

On the program, Giuliani made reference to the State Farm Arena surveillance video in Atlanta that showed election officials pulling black containers on wheels from underneath a table after poll observers and election workers were sent home. State election officials have said the process wasn’t unusual but didn’t answer key questions raised by Trump’s team when they commented on the video at a Georgia Legislature hearing.

“They spent the rest of the night counting the secret ballots, clearly secret phony ballots in which they excluded all Republicans, all Democrats, all law enforcement,” Giuliani said on Dec. 6. “And I think that ended up being about 148,000 to 7,000; 148,000 for Biden, 7,000 for Trump.”

Giuliani said the legislature is “disgusted” by the video and other allegations that surfaced during the hearing.

“This is a constitutional role that the Founding Fathers gave to our legislatures,” he said. “They’re the ones who are supposed to select the president, not the governors, not the Board of Elections. They’re the ones who have the constitutional obligation to decide on the electors. So in Georgia, they’re going to do that.”

About a month before Election Day, Trump himself tested positive for the virus and spent several days at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland, before he was released. His wife, First Lady Melania Trump, and son, Barron—as well as other White House officials—tested positive for the virus around the same time.
