Traditionally, the bride’s challenge is to hide the wedding dress from the groom until the wedding day.
But against all the odds, Catherine Middleton managed to hide hers from the prying eyes of the world’s media, revealing hers to the 2 billion watchers only at the moment she headed into the abbey.
Her ivory dress was designed by Sarah Burton at the British designer Alexander McQueen.
According to the wedding website, she was closely involved in the design of the dress.
The choice of dress fitted with the royal couple’s focus on keeping the wedding a British affair through and through.
“The dress epitomizes timeless British craftsmanship by drawing together talented and skilled workmanship from across the United Kingdom,” says the royal website.
