Rosario Dawson stars in the action thriller Unstoppable which opened in cinemas Friday, Nov. 12.

Dawson takes on the role of Connie Hooper, a headstrong railyard manager who has to deal with her corporate bosses, along with costars Denzel Washington and Star Trek’s Chris Pine, two locomotive operators, to try and stop a runaway train loaded with hazardous chemicals from crashing into a small town.

Dawson put in serious time and research to prepare for her role in the Tony Scott thriller. She wanted Connie to be someone composed and a leader, and “not just a cool, spunky woman or a bitchy aggressive woman,” she recently told MTV News.

She had the chance to meet with a real-life inspiration for her character: a female railyard manager.

“We had a great opportunity, we found this amazing woman, Mary Alexander,” she recently told MTV News, and was able to pick Alexander’s brain and learn about proper railyard lingo and technical terminology.

Dawson shares only a small amount of screen time with Washington in Unstoppable but says of her costar: “He brings something very noble to the craft of acting. He’s ”very old-school and just very, like, makes me want to just up my game a little bit,” in a recent interview with USA Today.

Dawson is also a devoted Star Trek fan and after playing alongside new Captain Kirk actor Chris Pine, she’s hoping for a ride on the Starship Enterprise.

“I have a whole petition going on on Twitter that I could maybe be in the next film,” says Dawson.
“Just a Klingon ... anything. Just a walk on part ... I’m a huge Trekkie and I’m hoping Chris might help me out,” she said on the Show Biz Spy website.

Next, Dawson stars in Girl Walks into a Bar, a YouTube—and Hulu-produced movie with Zachary Quinto and Josh Hartnett to be released free online, and Zookeeper with Kevin James planned for next summer.
