A five-month-old puppy was recently rescued in India in an operation that lasted for four hours. The canine had somehow fallen into hot tar that was spread around a construction site.

A Good Samaritan spotted the dog and contacted the organization called Animal Aid Unlimited. Staffers quickly arrived on site and located the puppy.

He was reportedly unable to move, as his entire body was stuck to the ground. The rescuers massaged vegetable oil through his hair in the hopes of loosening the sticky liquid.

Once the canine was freed, he was transported to an animal shelter where several more days were spent attempting to get the remaining tar remnants off his body.

At first the puppy was terrified of his new surroundings but he has since gone on to recover and has received vaccinations. The puppy is now lovingly being called ‘Tar Baby’.

Reportedly, the dog is walking and eating again.
