Despite a housing inventory advance of almost 20 percent from a year ago, American households earning $75,000 annually are unable to afford 75 percent of homes now listed on the market nationwide, according to a new report from the National Association of Realtors (NAR).

“Shoppers see more homes for sale today than one year ago, and encouragingly, many of these homes have been added at moderate income price points,” Danielle Hale, Realtor.com chief economist, said in the report.
