Prince Harry is seeking a wife because he believes he won’t be able to advance quickly through the Army as a bachelor, a now-deleted report claims.

Harry, 30, has had an on-off relationship with Cressida Bonas, 25, and several other women, but has never seemed close to settling down.

But he now wants to make it work with someone and is actively looking for a wife, he allegedly told friends recently.

Harry has the ambition of getting promoted to major--a senior role mostly held by married men--as he headed to Afghanistan recently.

“I'll have to marry if I’m to stay in the Army. I don’t think I can climb the ranks as a bachelor,” Harry told friends recently, according to a now-deleted report by the Daily Mirror.

The Daily Mail had a similar report.

It’s unclear why the articles were deleted.

While Harry wants very much to find a woman who will support his career, he understands that it won’t be easy.

“It’s a lot of hassle,” he added to friends.

“Being a soldier’s wife can be dull, especially if troops are away on ops like I am.”

A colleague told the Mirror that a lot of the people who signed up for service with Harry are now married.

“Harry says he wants to marry but he knows he has to find someone he loves who will put up with the pressure of being wed to a famous man as well as being an Army wife,” the colleague said.

“That’s quite a combination.”
