UPDATE June 2: According to Phoenix Police Department Sergeant Trent Crump, the woman suffered from no mental illnesses or health issues; the family members and police department remain baffled on a possible motive.

In a press conference, Crump said there was a 2-hour window where she was alone with the kids, and it was within that time that they believe the stabbings occurred.

The woman had left in 2014 to live in Virginia. She returned to Phoenix when giving birth to the 2-month-old. She remains hospitalized in critical condition as of the early afternoon hours on June 2—but is expected to live.

In the event she lives, she is expected to face several homicide charges after police conduct their investigation.

A 29-year-old woman from Phoenix, Ariz., is in a medically induced coma after killing her three sons and then trying to kill herself with a knife early Thursday morning, according to police reports.

The woman was found with several stab wounds inside of her home after appearing distraught to her brother, who lived in the home with her, according to FOX10. As the brother tried to grab towels and assist her, he found her trying to drown herself in the bathtub.

The report states that as she was being removed by emergency personnel, she had told officers that her three children were fine and in the care of someone else. But when police checked the house they discovered her three children dead. Her three sons were 8 years, 5 years, and 2 months old.

In a closet in the home, the 8 year old and 5 year old were wrapped in sheets, stabbed; the 2 month old was also found stabbed, but placed inside some type of case.

Crump also reported that the mother may be pregnant. She was found suffering from several stab wounds to her stomach and other areas of her body, including her neck.

Along with her brother, the woman’s mother also lived in the home, reported FOX10.

She remains in the hospital, listed under critical condition.

Updates to come as more information becomes available.
