Phillipa Lepley, the U.K.-based designer, heads the list of designers to create the royal wedding gown for Kate Middleton’s marriage to Prince William next year, according to the Daily Mail tabloid.
The bridal designer is known for her pristine and elegant designs and has made dresses for various British celebrities in the past.
William Hill, an online betting firm, said it had received several large bets for Lepley being the designer, according to the Mail and People magazine.
“There is rarely smoke without fire, and I would suggest she is possibly in the running and on a shortlist,” Rupert Adams, a William Hill spokesperson, told People.
According to the Mail, William Hill raised Lepley’s chances of being chosen to design the dress from 25 to 1, to 3 to 1.
Lepley, 41, set up her bridal shop in Chelsea in 1990.
