Palestine beat the Philippines Azkals in the AFC Challenge Cup final, 1-0.
Ashraf Al-Fawagrah scored the only goal of the match.
The win means that Palestine nabbed the last spot in the 2015 Asian Cup in Sydney.
It’s the first time that Palestine will participate in the cup.
They'll be bracketed in Group D with Jordan, Iran, and Japan. The cup is to be held from January 9 to January 31.
The Azkals failed to gain entry even through they made it to the final. On the other hand, the team did reach its highest ever spot in the Challenge Cup.
“Sorry if we failed you PILIPINAS we tried but fell short. Thank u Daddy God for this opportunity. In victory & defeat, to God be the glory,” tweeted team manager Dan Palami shortly after the match.
The participants in the Challenge Cup were: Myanmar, Maldives, Kyrgyzstan, Palestine, Afghanistan, Philippines, Laos and Turkmenistan.
