Philip Seymour Hoffman in Rehab Last Year Over Pills, Heroin

Philip Seymour Hoffman was in rehab last year after a he had a relapse with his drug problems.

Hoffman was in detox because he wanted to get over a drug problem that included prescription pills and snorting heroin, Hoffman told TMZ.

Hoffman said that he was using heroin for about a week when he realized that he needed help, so he checked into a rehab facility on the East Coast.

After 10 days there he checked out around May 31, 2013.

Hoffman said he was clean after the rehab and was back filming a movie days after he checked out.

Hoffman died at age 46 on February 2, 2014.

The NYPD is investigating whether the death came from drug overdose.
