Gender reveals have become hugely popular in recent years. Expectant parents are finding increasingly imaginative ways to break the news of their new baby’s gender to their loved ones before the baby is born. But for some, they would rather preserve the surprise.
For Weston and Erica Neuschafer, that’s exactly what they decided to do during Erica’s third pregnancy: wait. To their huge surprise, and very much against the odds, the Neuschafers discovered that Erica was expecting twins ... again! The pair were already parents to a daughter, Mylee, and young twins Mia and Kai when they learned the shocking news.
Erica and Weston maintained, however, that they didn’t want to know the gender of their twins before they were born this time.
Erica’s labor progressed quickly. Just three hours after it all began, Erica was transferred to the delivery room.
“Right about time to find out,” Weston said to the camera, as the couple prepared to meet their new babies. “We’re gonna meet these babies!” Family and friends, including Mylee, united outside of the delivery room and waited with bated breath for news.
As the first baby came into the world, the doctor shouted, triumphantly, “a boy!” The delivery room erupted with happy laughter, but Erica still had work to do. Baby number two followed shortly thereafter. “Another boy!” the nurses cried, and Erica threw her hands up in joy and relief.
“I’m so happy for Kai,” Erica’s mother wept, standing by her daughter’s side with a camera in her hand, recording the moment.
Babies Kale Roger Neuschafer and Kane Joseph Neuschafer came into the world at 12:39 p.m. and 1:05 p.m. respectively, and were greeted by a roomful of delighted family members.
Not only that, but fans quickly joined in the flurry of excitement by sending their own well-wishes to the happy family. “Wow, twins twice, how lucky!” wrote one supporter. “You have a lovely family. Would love to see a ‘day in the life’ style video. It’s chaotic enough at our place with one set of twins, I couldn’t even imagine how busy it must be in your household.”
But interestingly, the odds of conceiving twins again increase for a mother who has already carried twins previously. Like Erica!
Today, Kale and Kane are growing up fast. The Neuschafers, busier than ever before, continue to document their daily lives for the YouTube community.
“Twins twice” still perfectly sums up their remarkable family and the surprise that lit up the delivery room when Weston and Erica’s unexpected baby boys came into the world.
