I recently got this letter from a viewer: “Dear Sam, Thank you for what you are doing to help families make the shift to home educating. Self-teaching! I never thought I would homeschool, but we started last year and will NEVER go back! Your encouragement made all the difference, and we cannot thank you enough. Signed, Julie.”
What a lovely thank you note! Believe me, it means the world to me. What I am doing here is not easy, facing up against a well-loved and deeply ingrained American institution. Thank you notes are so important, and not just to me. To everyone.
By the way, I would love to hear from you! Questions, feedback, you name it. Contact me on my website, SamSorbo.com.
Does school teach children to write thank you cards? Do they make sure grandma gets one after she sends Tommy the awesome Lego set he wanted for his birthday? Nope. That’s the job of a parent, and parenting is the subject of this week’s episode of “School’s Out with Sam Sorbo.”
