Three people are trapped in the rubble of the Our Lady of Light Church in Loon in Bohol, Philippines after a major earthquake hit the area on Tuesday.
The church was the biggest in Bohol, and is also known as Kasilak or The Church of the Nuestra Señora de la Luz Parish, was turned into rubble which buried the three worshippers, Loon mayor Lloyd Peter Lopez told GMA News Online. The victims were now declared as missing.
The local government is still trying to rescue the churchgoers, but rescuers don’t have much equipment on hand. Major roads and bridges in the area were damaged, making it impossible to transport heavy-duty equipment, Lopez said.
Two sets of before and after pictures show the church completely collapsed.
The church was built in 1853, according to the Loon government.
