A Mexican man accidentally shot and killed himself while taking selfies with a loaded gun.

Oscar Otero Aguilar, a 21-year-old veterinarian, was snapping pictures of himself with a live gun when he shot himself in the head.

According to Mexico’s Excelsior, Aguilar, who was living in Gustavo A. Madero, borrowed the gun and did not know it was loaded.

Neighbor Manfredo Paez Paez, 57, told the local media: “I heard a gunshot, and then I heard somebody screaming and realised somebody had been hurt.

“I called the police straight away and when they arrived they found that he was still alive.”

Medics were rushed to the scene, but the young vet passed away on the way to the hospital.

Aguilar could have been under the influence of alcohol when the incident occurred, as the Ministry of Public Security of the Federal District (SSPDF) said that Aguilar was drinking with his friends before the accident.

If Aguilar was indeed drunk while taking photos with weapons to put up on social media, this is unfortunately not the first time someone has been killed while under these circumstances.

In 2012, Manuel Ortiz of Phoenix, Arizona, was shot and killed by his sister after they had some drinks and were taking pictures with a gun. after
