A lot of fans of Orange is the New Black have already watched season 2 and are wondering about season 3.
Some key updates on the season have come out already. Let’s check them out.
—Filming has started and Alex Vause will be prominent in the next season.
Laura Prepon will be in every episode of season 3. “Yes, definitely, and I’m really excited because I missed everybody so much during season 2,” the former “That ’70s Show” star told TODAY. “But yeah, we started shooting yesterday, and it’s awesome so I can’t wait to get back to work.”
“Basically, I wasn’t a series regular and wasn’t under contract, and then had a scheduling conflict that came up during season 2,” Prepon told The Daily Beast in April. “But I love the show and I love my character, and I told [show creator] Jenji [Kohan] from the get-go, ‘I want to be in as many as I can.’ So we did, and I’ll be in four episodes for season 2. And then if we get a season 3, I’ll be in every episode. I totally missed the show.”
—Others have been promoted to series regulars
That would be Samira Wiley (Poussey Washington), Adrienne C. Moore (Black Cindy), Dascha Polanco (Daya), and Yael Stone (Lorna Morell).
—Mary Steenburgen will appear in season 3.
Her exact role hasn’t been confirmed yet but the star is happy to be part of the show.
“Very excited to go to my first wardrobe fitting of OITNB! Will I be in orange or black?:),” she said via Twitter.
—There’s no release date yet.
But the season 1 was released to Netflix on July 11, 2013 and season 2 was released on June 6 of this year.
That seems to indicate that the next season will premiere in the summer, in June or July.
