Soon after Israel’s 9/11 on Oct. 7, 2023, pro-Hamas sympathizers in California, other states, and around the world have disrupted the daily lives of folks by utilizing the hecklers veto, blocking key infrastructure, and persistent bullying. These useful idiots for Iran and its surrogates repeat mindless mantras that bear no resemblance to facts on the ground in the region. Indeed, much of the hate speech is reminiscent of the National Socialist Third Reich narrative in the 1930s and 1940s.

In this week’s edition of the Daily Titan, a weekly newspaper printed by Cal State University–Fullerton (CSUF), an article stated that both the Associated Students organization at CSUF and the Cal State Student Association have passed a resolution calling for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. It also called for a boycott-divest-sanction (BDS) movement against Israel. The article emphasized Palestinian suffering over several decades but made no mention of Hamas’s atrocities. Are these student groups even curious as to the cause of the conflict?

While it may be natural to sympathize with the plight of the Palestinians, far too many college activists are indifferent to Hamas’s barbarity on steroids that occurred on Oct. 7 against Israel, along with the ruthless hostage taking. Why aren’t there chants and banners condemning Hamas for initiating a war as well as denunciations for the continuous Arab assaults targeting Israel since its inception as a Jewish state in 1948?

Many of the pro-Hamas instigators organize choreographed protests via social media, some of which are funded by outside sponsors such as billionaire George Soros. Students are brainwashed into participating in lawless activities that inflict misery on law abiding citizens and target Jewish folks who have nothing to do with events in the Middle East.

Most college students just want to learn and graduate from school, but the inciters of violence don’t care. Since there are little to no real consequences for their behavior, they are emboldened to defy authority and continue with their anarchy.

Do these disruptors carry out any research as to what daily life in Israel is like? Israelis must be on constant pins and needles not knowing when or where the next rocket or homicide bomber will strike. Unfortunately, the clueless anti-Semitic hordes on campuses and in the streets blame Israel for the aggressions of Hamas. Are they unaware that neighboring states refuse to allow Palestinians into their countries due to the Palestinian leaders’ track record as a destabilizing force in the region?

Do these instigators know that most Christians and Jews have been driven out of Arab states and Palestinian territories, yet Israel has assimilated two million Arabs into its society? These Arabs enjoy far more rights in Israel than they could ever dream of having in Muslim dominant states.

A search for the facts would inform unaware students that Hamas and other Iranian proxies intentionally target civilians while the Israeli Defense Forces bend over backward to avoid civilian casualties by using smart surveillance and targeted weapons.

By contrast, Hamas terrorists use Palestinians as cannon fodder as they attack Israel, illustrating that they are unconcerned about Palestinian casualties. Indeed, the Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry has routinely distorted or inflated Palestinian casualty figures. Moreover, it has been reported that much of the humanitarian aid flowing to Gaza is seized by Hamas, which in turn sells it to the Palestinians at a profitable price.

Are the students even curious about finding out the reasons why the Palestinians struggle to improve their lives? Aren’t our universities supposed to encourage critical thinking and methods of inquiry? If they could take a break from their phone fixation, they might develop greater situational awareness of the real world.

They would discover that since 1948, Israel has offered the Palestinians generous land for peace deals several times but have been rejected each time. Gaza and much of the West Bank was turned over to the Palestinians, but instead of peace, Israel became the recipient of more terror strikes. Israeli diplomat Abba Eban once noted that the Palestinians never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity. This constant refusal of a genuine two-state solution reveals that Hamas and the Palestinian Authority (Fatah) have no interest in peace.

Indeed, the extinction of Israel is written into their charters. Iran and its surrogates have never recognized the reality of Israeli statehood, and the word Israel doesn’t even show up on their maps of the region. Young Palestinians are taught from an early age to be anti-Israel and anti-Jewish. Disinformation about Israel is so prevalent that one wonders if there can ever be stability in the neighborhood.

Sadly, the International Criminal Court and the United Nations have similarities to some of our universities. In an Orwellian master stroke, they both want to treat genocidal terrorists as victims and the true victim (Israel) as the aggressor. Can these organizations be this tone deaf? If so, we are in trouble because their moral compass is out of kilter. They are on the wrong side of history, because Israel is here to stay. Moreover, a BDS movement against Israel would backfire, because Israel is capable of securing other markets for its innovative products and services.

Finally, most folks desire a verifiable ceasefire, but common sense must prevail. To get there, Hamas terrorists must lay down their arms, Hamas must abide by any treaty or truce for mutual security, and legitimate governance must emerge in Gaza and the West Bank. Only then can development, freedom, peace, and the rule of law unfold.
