For 250 years, this country has carried forward an extraordinary experiment in liberty, tested at times, but strengthened by every generation that refused to let it fail. Through it all, Americans have kept faith with the idea that freedom is worth defending and that the Constitution is more than a document. It is a charge handed from one generation to the next.
That charge matters especially to those of us in law enforcement. Liberty cannot last without law and order. Families cannot thrive if communities are not safe. Rights mean little if criminals, predators, terrorists or foreign adversaries are allowed to threaten them without consequence.
At the FBI, our mission is rooted in that responsibility. We defend the Constitution, protect the American people, and uphold the rule of law without fear or favor. This FBI has been transformed into the modern-day premier law enforcement agency Americans need it to be.
America has done more to advance freedom, justice and opportunity than any other nation in the world. As we mark this milestone, our obligation is clear. Honor those who built and defended this country by preserving it for the Americans who come next.
