The EpochTV series, “Truth Over News,“ produced a recent episode entitled, “Top Scientists Publicly Dismissed Lab Leak Theory, but Privately Said It Could Be True.” Hosts Jeff Carlson and Hans Mahncke dig into this controversial issue or the origin of the COVID-19 vaccine. The video starts with a startling revelation by virologist and Scientist of the Year, Edward Holmes saying that from the beginning of the outbreak there were instructions not to release data about the virus. So, vital genomic information was withheld during the first days of the outbreak—largely due to pressure from the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
Holmes, who has a history of working with Wuhan scientists, was publicly stating that the virus had natural origins but privately was saying that it did likely come from a lab. Holmes’ co-author of the proximal origin letter, Kristian Andersen, was also calling the lab leak theory a “crackpot theory,” while privately saying he was 60 to 70 percent sure that the CCP virus, commonly known as the novel coronavirus, came from a lab. Holmes stated later that he was 80 percent sure of the lab origin of the virus.

At the same time that this admission was being made by Holmes, the World Health Organization (WHO) released its report on the origins of the virus saying that a lab leak was “highly unlikely” and that no further inquiries needed to be made. The lead investigator of that report released information publicly that the leak was from natural origins. However, he then revealed to a Danish news team that a deal had been negotiated between the WHO and China. Andersen would release a letter in January of 2020, congratulating China for “responding, detecting, identifying, isolating, and sequencing a pathogen in only two weeks.”

However, at that time China was withholding the genome sequencing data. As a matter of fact, when a Chinese scientist from Shanghai released the genome sequencing data on Jan. 11, 2020, the CCP shut down his lab. Andersen also released information that the virus had originated at a seafood market, but then told Dr. Anthony Fauci later that he believed that the virus had been engineered. This submission by Western scientists not to release this vital information when it was most needed allowed the virus to spread further and gave the CCP time to promote a natural origins narrative. There were so many inconsistencies in Andersen’s statements that he was confronted about them, and he responded by saying that he had changed his mind about the origin of the virus after Fauci’s private teleconference. He also closed his Twitter account after emails were released showing his inconsistent statements.

Lab Leak vs. Natural Origin Theory

In a July 16, 2021 report from CNN Politics, Biden administration investigators said they now believe that the virus escaping from a Wuhan lab has as much credence as the theory that it occurred naturally. There are still two theories on the issue and groups remain divided over it. The lab leak theory states that coronavirus research was being done on bats at a Wuhan virology lab and that it escaped and spread from there. The natural origins theory states that the virus occurred naturally in nature such as other viruses that have occurred and was passed from animal to human. This theory rejects the idea that it was bioengineered.

The WHO is calling for China to be more transparent and release information about everything that was going on in the virology lab. Also on July 16, China’s foreign ministry spokesperson released a statement saying that “since the beginning of the epidemic, China has taken a scientific, professional, serious, and responsible attitude in tracing the origins of the virus.”

In the next segment of the video, the hosts reveal some further interesting information surrounding the release of the virus. When the virus was first discovered the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Chinese CDC) moved its location close to the seafood market, which was also named as a possible origin of the virus. It was also adjacent to Union Hospital—another hot spot in the outbreak.

Interestingly, Holmes assisted a Chinese student in writing a thesis paper on the coronavirus, which gave him much insight into the lab and its research practices. It also confirmed the first cases of infection from the virus were miners who worked in a mine where the lab had gotten bat samples. Holmes was associated with the head of the Chinese CDC and also involved in writing several articles with Tian Junhua, a researcher at the center. Information was released that Tian had captured bats and brought them to the Wuhan lab. No precautions were taken and he himself admitted he had come into contact with bat urine and blood.

There have been statements by others and multiple messages were sent to Fauci but went unanswered. While these letters were being sent to Fauci, admitting that the virus most likely was released from the lab, these same people were releasing information to the mainstream media supporting the natural origins theory, leading the public to believe that the virus was not a result of bioengineering from China.

Call To Action

The video concludes with the host pointing out that all of these inconsistencies and obvious lies and cover-ups have put the world at risk as the virus continues to spread. China needs to release all of its information that has been withheld. The host states, “Holmes along with the rest of Dr. Fauci’s scientists need to publicly answer for their obvious and costly contradictions.”
