The Olympic torch travelled to the ends of the earth on Sept. 30 as it passed through the city of Ushuaia on the southern tip of Argentina, often referred to as “the end of the world.”

The torch is on a two-month, 17 city, 14,000-kilometer (8,700-mile) rally across Argentina ahead of the Summer Youth Games which will be hosted in capital Buenos Aires October 6-18.

The president of the International Olympic Committee, Thomas Bach, said the flame’s presence put Ushuaia in the “centre of the world.”
