Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) has easily won reelection in her deep blue district. She swept more than 71 percent of the vote with 97 percent of expected ballots counted, according to the New York Post, which has the most up-to-date results. Her Republican challenger, Tina Forte, garnered less than 27 percent.

The results mirror the 2020 results almost perfectly, back then Ocasio-Cortez also received over 71 percent of the votes, while her opponent, John Cummings, finished with a bit over 27 percent.

Ocasio-Cortez is one of the handful of openly socialist Congress members. Her initial candidacy in 2018 was backed by the Democratic Socialists of America, the largest socialist group in the country.

“Thank you to every member of our community and every grassroots supporter for entrusting me with the great responsibility of representing NY-14 in Congress,” Ocasio-Cortez commented in a tweet after The New York Times called the race.
