NYFF52 Whiplash Press Conference

The 52nd New York Film Festival 2014 (NYFF52) WHIPLASH, press conference with director Damien Chazelle and actor J.K. Simmons moderated by NYFF Selection Committee Amy Taubin, Film Society of Lincoln Center, was held at the Walter Reade Theater on Friday, September 26, 2014. Questions posed to director Chazelle and Simmons by moderator Taubin and members of the press included “Why is violence always the go to way in coaching virtuosity; How did your drumming reform your editing style and visual style; Do you push someone too far even if they are talented and is this sadism and what leads him to sabotage potentially his entire career to get revenge on this kid.
