NEW YORK - May is Bike Month in the city and Transportation Alternatives is hosting “pit stops for bikers” in the five boroughs to use on their morning bike commute on Friday, May 21.

Nine pit stops will be in place between 7:30 a.m and 10:30 a.m. to encourage people to ride their bike to work, providing breakfast, advice, commuter kits, and even cheering spectators in some places along Broadway on Friday.

A full listing of stops can be found at http://bikemonthnyc.org/. In the city, bicycling has increased 26 percent between 2008 and 2009, according to the advocacy group. In 43 states and in Washington, D.C., events will be held to promote biking to work.
