La Bayadere Ballet at the Met


Starting Thursday and ending on Monday, American Ballet Theatre’s production of Marius Petipa’s ballet, La Bayadere, will be featured at the Metropolitan Opera. The ballet takes place in Royal India and tells the story of a temple dancer, Nikiya, who is loved by a royal warrior, Solor. Conflict ensues when a High Brahmin, jealous of Solor, attempts to kill Solor and take Nikiya for himself. The ballet runs approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes.

Cleveland Orchestra at Carnegie Hall


On Friday, the Cleveland Orchestra will play the Coriolan Overture, Op. 62 and Symphony No. 3, “Eroica,” by Beethoven as well as Berg’s Lulu Suite at Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage in Carnegie Hall. Tickets range between $40–$123.

Emily Dickinson Poetry at NY Botanical Garden


Emily Dickinson Poetry will be held at the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx on Saturday, 4–5 p.m. Readings are by Bob Holman, founder of the Bowery Poetry Club and producer of the PBS Series “The United States of Poetry and Marilyn Nelson,” author of “The Fields of Praise: New and Selected Poems.” The exhibit allows guests to tour Dickinson’s Victorian Homestead re-created and read some of Dickinson’s most famous works near the flowers that inspired them. Adults: $20, Kids: $8.

Campbell Brown and Dan Senor to Speak


CNN broadcaster Cambell Brown and author Dan Senor will speak about work, family, and “their world” at the Buttenweiser Hall of the 92nd Street Y on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Brown is an Emmy award-winning reporter who gained accolades during her coverage of Hurricane Katrina. She hosts her own show on CNN. Senor works with the Council on Foreign Relations and was senior official in Iraq during the Bush administration. Tickets are $27.
