OSLO, Norway—The Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund will decrease the interest of study loans from 6.8 percent to 5. 9 percent from Apr. 1, 2009.

The Norwegian State Loan Educational Loan Fund is a government agency that provides loans and grants to Norwegian and certain foreign students for their education starting, from the first year they enter high school.

The system is aimed at making education available to everyone, regardless of their background, age, gender and social status. In the academic year of 2006-2007, the Norwegian State Educational Loan Fund granted a total of 195,336 students 17,212,000,000 Norwegian crowns.
