Northern Ireland’s five main political party leaders stood alongside the region’s police chief on Friday in a rare “act of unity” over the attempted murder of a senior detective.

The leaders of Sinn Fein, the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP), the Alliance Party, the Ulster Unionist Party (UUP), and the Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP) stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) Chief Constable Simon Byrne to again condemn the shooting of high-profile detective, John Caldwell.
