North and South Korea exchanged artillery fire in a disputed maritime border on Thursday and Wednesday.

In what North Korea described as artillery drills, dozens of shells were fired into the disputed sea area, sparking counterfire from the South. On Thursday North Korea declared a “no-sail” zone near the sea border, leaving the South speaking of a provocative act.

The latest incident comes as North Korea indicated it wants to return to six-country talks on its nuclear program, after a year long boycott.
