Nokia has been on the ropes in the smartphone ring largely due to competitor’s innovations, but largely due to lack of the company’s own creative Mojo too. Nokia CEO Stephen Elop believes today’s announcement of the new Lumia 920 will change all that. Whether or not his suggestion that the Lumia 920 is the world’s “smartest” smartphone is valid or not though, the latest Lumia is a big cut above previous Nokia efforts.
Nokia’s Lumia 900 beta tests did not go so well for Elop’s company, but somehow Nokia’s engineers seem to have stepped the company’s efforts way up this go round. The 920, unveiled by Elop at a media event in New York, is the Finland phone maker’s only real bid capable of taking on Apple, Samsung, and HTC devices.
Specs and Features
Aside all the spec wonders, the Nokia will come in some pretty smart colors too (yellow, red, white, grey, and always black). As for specs, other than the excellent PureView camera technology?

Besides expected Nokia quality construction (one a one-piece polycarbonate body), Lumia owners can also enjoy maybe the phone’s best feature, wireless charging via the Qi wireless power standard.
Summary
If you’re like me, the only thing better than a a perfect wireless connection is ensuring one’s “smartness” does not go dead at the wrong time. Adding to the “coolness”, Nokia has also made the wireless charging plate in complementary colors too.
Cool accessories like the JBL PowerUP Wireless Charging Speaker (image at top), and other Nokia or JBL goodies make the new smartphones all the more attractive, and Elop hopes, competitive with iPhone and Galaxy in particular. Will the new smart phones be crossover business champions for Nokia? The specs and pretty colors say so, and maybe it is time.
