A number of dates have been thrown up for Google’s next tablet, and they all converge in the month of October.

Google is definitely working on an “upcoming 9-inch Nexus tablet,” according to the Wall Street Journal, and they are almost certainly working with HTC on it, even though both companies refused to comment on the possibility.

However, a person “familiar with the matter” of a possibly Google-HTC collaboration told the Journal that “Google had been mulling HTC as a Nexus tablet partner since last year,” in part because Google deliberately switches up its partners “from device to device to avoid any one manufacturer gaining a monopoly.”

The 9-inch Nexus tablet has been dubbed the Nexus 9 on the web, and there has been plenty of speculation as to when Google will officially announce the event.

Portuguese website 4G News claims that HTC will announce the device on October 8. This date coincides with a scheduled HTC press event, so it does seem likely, although HTC could very well unveil another product.

Paul O'Brien, co-founder of tech website MoDaCo, tweeted that an “anonymous tipster” put the Nexus 9′s launch date at October 16, and later also tweeted that a “UK ‘carrier launch’” is scheduled for October 24th.

Extrapolating, there is a chance that Google and HTC announce the Nexus 9 on October 8, and release it a week or two later on October 16 or October 24 in the United Kingdom.

Another possibility is that Google unveils the device mid-October, and releases it to stores some time in November.

Here is a round up of rumored details of the Nexus 9 so far:
