The New York Giants handed victory on a silver platter to the visiting Tennessee Titans 29–10 at the New Meadowlands on Sunday.
The Giants missed two field goals, got tagged with a safety after a chop block in their own end zone, committed three turnovers (two of which came in the red zone), and took 11 penalties including five personal fouls. The Giants completely lost their heads as the Titans clearly got under their skins.
"I'm taking full responsibility," said Giants head coach Tom Coughlin in his press conference. "We should've won [this game] and we didn't win."
"We played hard yet we were not able to put the ball in the end zone [enough]."
Eli Manning had an up-and-down game, throwing for 386 yards but with two interceptions. His second interception was a bad error of judgment where on 3rd-and-2 from the 2-yard line, he scrambled and tried to flip the ball with his left hand to a receiver in heavy coverage.
The Titans came out and did what they had to do. Speedy running back Chris Johnson led the way with 32 carries for 125 yards and 2 TDs.
Quarterback Vince Young was efficient in the passing game completing 10 of 16 passes for just over 100 yards. He also threw one TD pass to former Rutgers receiver Kenny Britt.
With the loss, the Giants fall to 1–2 while the Titans rise to 2–1. The Giants suffered their second consecutive blowout at the hands of an AFC South team after last week’s lopsided loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
