The NBA playoff standings in 2014 are going to go down to the wire, especially in the Eastern Conference.

The bottom three seeds in particular look to be between four teams. The Washington Wizards, currently number 6, and the Charlotte Bobcats, currently number 7, have each lost two straight while number 8 seed Atlanta Hawks have won five straight and the New York Knicks, currently just out of a spot at ninth, have won seven straight.

The Knicks are still four games behind Atlanta but the Bobcats are only a half game ahead of the Hawks.

In the Western Conference, there’s also nine teams in serious contention for the eight spots, with three teams particularly battling for the last two spots.

The Phoenix Suns fell out of the top eight last week and remain at ninth place, a game and a half behind the Dallas Mavericks who have just fallen behind the Memphis Grizzlies into the eighth spot.

The Grizzlies have a bit of momentum with two straight wins and an 8-2 record in their last 10 games. The Mavs and Suns are both 5-5 in the last 10.
