The Kenyan Presidency has announced one of the attackers in the upscale West Gate mall in Nairobi has been arrested, according to Reuters. The attackers, believed to have terrorist associations, killed at least 22 people, the Kenyan Red Cross said.
A Kenyan government official said at least 30 have been killed, one suspect arrested, and another killed, according to CNN.
In a tweet, Inspector General of Police National Police Service David Kimaiyo said: “1 gunmen wounded, while several others pinned down.”
Martin Cuddihy was reporting on the scene for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC), and told CNN as many as 36 hostages are still being held in the mall.
